This Privacy Policy explains how Alien Energy (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2020/254510/07) ("Alien Energy", "we", "us") processes personal information in connection with our biomass energy services and our AlienView remote-monitoring platform (the "Services"). We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA").

To deliver operational and account notifications we process mobile telephone numbers and the content of the messages we send to you. These messages are delivered through third-party messaging processors:
We share your mobile number and the relevant message content with these processors solely to transmit our notifications to you. They process this information on our behalf as operators/processors under our instructions and their own applicable terms and privacy policies. Our messaging is strictly transactional — we do not send marketing or promotional messages, and we do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or message content with any third party for that party's own marketing or promotional purposes.
Consent to receive these messages is obtained during account provisioning. You may opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP (or HELP for assistance); for WhatsApp you may block or mute the business number or contact us to be removed. Message frequency varies with operational conditions, and message and data rates may apply.

Some of our processors (including Meta and Twilio) may process information outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives a comparable level of protection as required by POPIA. We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, and thereafter only as required to meet legal, accounting or reporting obligations.
We apply appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls and network segmentation — to protect personal information against loss, and against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.
